Download the Windows program from the Download page and install it. It starts automatically with Windows and sits next to the clock in the system tray. Put the cursor in a text box, hold Ctrl+Win, speak, then release the keys.

Dictation works without an account. The (free) account syncs your dictionary, shortcuts, styles, and commands across devices and saves your meetings in the web app. You log in with a 6-digit code sent by email – no password.

The program is new and still unsigned digitally. Click “More info” then “Run anyway”. Future updates install automatically.

Windows 10/11, Android (keyboard and bubble), and any modern browser via the web app. Mac and iPhone are in progress; on iPhone, you can use the web app for recordings.

Hold down Ctrl+Win while you speak. Hands-free: tap the combo briefly (under a third of a second), speak as long as you want, tap again to finish. Cancel: Esc. Paste last dictation again: Alt+Shift+Z.

Yes: Settings › Hotkeys › “Change”, then press the desired combo. The dictation key can’t be a typing key (a letter) or just Ctrl or Alt alone.

Select text, hold the dictation key plus Alt, and say what to do: “make shorter,” “more polite,” “translate to English,” “make a list.” The selected text is replaced with the result. Without selection, Zicelo writes what you say (“write a thank you email to Ana”). You can save frequently used commands on the Commands page.

Especially with proper names and technical terms. Add it in Dictionary (with the correct form) and next time it will be right. Speak at a normal distance from the mic; headsets with a mic give the best results.

On the Shortcuts page, you link a phrase (“my signature”) to a text of any length. When you say the phrase during dictation, the full text appears. Case and accents don’t matter.

Zicelo detects which app you’re typing in and applies the chosen style: formal in emails, neutral for work, casual in personal conversations. You can change them on the Style page.

The recording wasn’t lost. Open Zicelo › Dictation › history and click “Retry” when internet returns.

Check if Zicelo is running (icon near the clock) and if the microphone chosen in Settings is the right one. If the bar shows a message about a needed update, restart the program to install the new version.

Zicelo Keyboard replaces your keyboard and has a big microphone. Bubble keeps your keyboard (Gboard, SwiftKey) and appears above it only while typing. You can use both.

Settings › Accessibility › Zicelo › On. If “Restricted setting” appears, open App info for Zicelo › menu ⋮ › “Allow restricted settings” and try again.

An Android keyboard can’t request mic access by itself, so the app asks for it once. Zicelo only listens while you hold the dictation button and doesn’t dictate in password fields.

In the Windows program: Meetings page › “Take notes now”, or let it start automatically for meetings from your calendar. In browser: Chrome extension or web app › Record. You can also upload an audio/video file.

Connect your calendar (Google, Outlook, or iCal link) in Settings › Meetings & Calendar. When a meeting from calendar starts and Teams, Zoom, Webex, or Meet keep the mic open, Zicelo starts recording (or asks you, if you chose that).

When you press “Stop,” when the calling app frees the mic for over a minute, or 15 minutes after the calendar end time. A meeting lasts max 4 hours.

The app records your microphone and computer sound (others in the call) separately. Without headphones, the microphone also picks up the speakers, so labels are approximate. In uploaded files, speakers are automatically separated and you can name them.

In the Windows app, the Meetings page. If you’re logged in with your account, meetings also appear in the web app, where you can search, share, ask questions, and send them to integrations.

In the web app › Plan. Upgrade immediately; downgrade at the end of your current paid period.

You delete meetings from the web app (one by one or multiple at once). To delete your entire account, write to us from the Support page using your account email.
